How to define correct load position

In the case of modelling hinge connecting members, it is necessary to change the position of the acting load into the place where the hinge is assumed (with zero bending moment).

 

In the first example, we will choose wrong option for this kind of connection: Forces in Node.

 

Due to the acting bending moment at the position of the supposed hinge, the deformation is unreal and the behaviour is wrong.

We must set the position of the shear force into the Bolts (or to the specific Position).

 

Now, there is a zero bending moment at the position of the theoretical hinge and, therefore, the deformation behaviour is realistic.
